The StepForward Recovery Practice

Wellbeing: Coaching survivors of Abuse and Trauma to have a voice and balanced life.

The Chrysalis Effect

Stress, anxiety and childhood trauma can have the biggest impact on our body and mind without realising it. Self-care and listening to our body is often overlooked and making simple everyday changes can make a significant change to your own Wellbeing within your coaching pathways.

We often get caught in a “busy” cycle and sometimes the only signs we have, is when our body keeps trying to tell us; often feeling unwell, constant viruses, fatigue, fuzzy head. Regularly feeling in a stressed state has an impact to your adrenal/thyroid functions as it is constantly in a fight or flight mode.

This has a domino effect, adding to the “overwhelm” feeling that we experience at times with varied symptoms, diagnoses of depression or non-specific symptoms which underpins many illnesses including Chronic Fatigue, M.E or Fibromyalgia or other Chronic Illnesses and addictions. The higher your A.C.E. score (Adverse Childhood Experiences) increases your likelihood of being diagnosed with a Chronic illness, although with the correct knowledge and information you can overcome this and enable recovery and healing.

Self-care is one of the areas covered within Wellbeing coaching, together with emotional wellbeing, nutritional lifestyle and movement.

As an accredited ILM Wellbeing Coach and FHT specialist practitioner with the Chrysalis Effect programme, additional support options include, signing up to the online recovery programme (that can be followed independently alongside your GP) or in addition to working with The StepForward Practice on a 1:1 basis or within group workshops. The step by step programme highlights 6 vital phases in recovery and also offers peer to peer support.
